A letter from Kalee Kozinski, Principal

Dear Future Saint John School Families,

I am so grateful you are considering Saint John the Baptist Catholic School for your family.  Saint John School has been teaching the Catholic faith for 150 years. The people who have been part of our school set the foundation for those yet to come. We would love to add you to our growing family!

Catholic education, whether through the Catholic school or Faith Formation, is the largest ministry in the Catholic Church. The future of our Church is dependent on our young generations. Offering a strong, faith-based, education is vital. We are proud to provide a solid foundation rooted in faith which supports soul formation, sets high academic standards, encourages service, strengthens morals and values, and provides opportunities to participate in Sacraments. This foundation sets Saint John the Baptist Catholic School apart from the other schools in our area.

In addition to our focus on faith, Saint John School is proud to offer a rigorous curriculum with high academic standards. We are blessed to live in a country where education is available to all children. We know you have options, including the local Waunakee schools, so we work to maintain a high standard of learning and look to find ways to set us apart. Saint John School is fully accredited through the Wisconsin Religious and Independent School Accreditation (WRISA). Our curriculum is based on national, state, and diocesan standards which are reviewed each year. SJS teachers are licensed with years of continuing education credits, but more importantly, they are here because they have been called to serve in the vocation of Catholic school teachers. Each day, they work to meet the needs of each student through personal contact and differentiation.

We are grateful you are considering Saint John the Baptist Catholic School for your family. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our school or the enrollment process. I look forward to welcoming your family to our SJS family!

In Christ,
Kalee Kozinski, Principal

Family Testimonials

Saint John The Baptist Catholic School has been an incredible blessing for our family. We chose it because of its strong values, dedicated teachers, and commitment to academic excellence. From day one, we knew we made the right decision as we watched our children thrive both academically and personally. The sense of community and support here is unmatched. We stay because we see the lasting impact this school has on our children's future, and we couldn't imagine a better place for them to learn and thrive.

The Helt Family

We moved to Waunakee and started at St. John's School when our kids were in 4K, 1st, and 2nd grades. Changing schools can be intimidating, but the staff and families at St. John School and throughout the parish were so welcoming to us!  After two years in, our kids consistently tell us they are so glad we moved and came to St. John School. They are flourishing academically, spiritually, and personally.  We are very grateful to the wonderful teachers and staff!

St. John School Merit Scholarship

At St. John the Baptist School (SJS), we are called to prepare the way for Christ. Inspired by the mission of our patron and guided by our parish’s commitment to forming disciples, we are thrilled to introduce the SJS Merit Scholarship — an initiative designed to support families in embracing the gift of Catholic education at St. John the Baptist School.

Catholic education is not just academics – it is a sacred partnership to cultivate hearts on fire for Christ. And our school is not merely an institution – it is a vital apostolate of our parish. Likewise, this scholarship is more than financial aid – it is an invitation to join a community where faith illuminates learning, service becomes second nature, and children grow into the saints God calls them to be.

The SJS Merit Scholarship is specifically designed to encourage families who are not currently sending a grade K-8 child to our parish’s Catholic school to explore this transformative opportunity. Recipients will receive tuition coverage for their first child, and the scholarship is open for renewal on an annual basis for families who continue to meet eligibility criteria. We firmly believe that Catholic education plays an indispensable role in forming young disciples, and we are eager to support families in this endeavor.

This scholarship reflects our parish’s dedication to removing financial barriers for families discerning Catholic schooling for the first time; investing in lifelong discipleship by uniting faith formation with academic excellence; and building a legacy of young people who live the Gospel with courage, integrity, and joy.

This scholarship is open to all active members of our parish who demonstrate a strong commitment to their faith and our parish community. Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Live their faith: Regular Mass attendance, participation in Sacraments, and engagement in parish activities.

  • Champion Catholic education: Families eager to embrace a partnership with our school to form the “whole” child—spiritually, intellectually, and morally.

  • Seek transformation: Parents who desire more than a diploma—they seek a community where their child’s God-given gifts are nurtured for His glory.

For more information about the SJS Merit Scholarship and to apply, please contact Mrs. Kalee Kozinski, school principal, at 608.849.5325 ext. 5101 or kkozinski@stjb.org. All applications due by May 15th.

Peace and blessings,
Fr. Joseph Baker, Parochial Administrator
and Mrs. Kalee Kozinski, School Principal
