Day in the Life
Early Childhood
Our early childhood students spend their school day learning how to form relationships with peers and adults. They learn to follow a routine and conflict resolution. They focus on the foundations of our faith, fine motor skills, exploring through play, and center activities. 4K students also participate in music, library, and phy ed classes and eat lunch with other school students. They participate in group work in the classroom and have recess twice a day with their same age peers
Elementary School
Primary students (grades K - 2) spend their days exploring new concepts through projects and activities. They learn to read with the Superkids and phonics instruction, and also have daily instruction in religion, mathematics, and science or social studies. They receive a visit from our school chaplain biweekly to learn about virtues and Theology of the Body. Incorporated into their weeks are the specials classes including art, library, music, physical education, social emotional learning, and Spanish. The primary students have a morning recess time with a snack break and eat lunch altogether. Intermediate students (grades 3 - 5) have been taught the foundational skills they need to apply their learning, so they are reading to learn. Intermediate classes involve rigorous instruction in reading through novel studies, grammar instruction, and academic writing. Intermediate students enjoy the same frequency of visits from our school chaplain and specials classes.
Middle School
Middle school (grades 6 - 8) students have a traditional middle school schedule where they rotate every 42 minutes to a new class/teacher. These students use lockers to store their materials and have passing time to have a short break and gather their materials for their next class. Middle school students have dedicated periods each day for religious instruction from either a religion teacher or our school chaplain, language arts, writing, history, science, and mathematics. Our 6th-7th graders traditionally study pre-algebra and 8th graders study algebra. There is consideration of acceleration for high achieving students to take geometry and other higher level math through a partnership with Blessed Carlo Acutis Academy sponsored by the Diocese of Madison. Middle school students participate in specials classes similar to our younger students, with an added health class. Each middle school grade has an extra specials class to offer some variety to their day. Sixth grade takes a study skills class to explicitly learn how to use an academic planner, organize their materials, take notes, study for tests, complete large projects, and more. Seventh graders design and compile the school yearbook each year, and are in charge of taking photos at school events to capture snapshots of our year. Eighth grade students participate in a studio class where they record videos and create a presentation for our daily school announcements. These announcements include intentions and prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, the lunch and birthdays of the day, and any extra information the school needs to know.
