Sacramental Life

Students attend daily Mass once a week and on Holy Days of Obligation. Students have the opportunity to go to Confession on Thursdays, during Eucharistic Adoration.

Religion Curriculum

Studying the faith is an essential component to the education of children at St. John School. The classroom teachers use a variety of curriculums that are approved by the Diocese of Madison for learning the Catholic faith.

Fr. Simon Tipps visits the classrooms weekly for theology class, especially focused on the Education in Virtue resources and Ruah Woods curriculums.

Prayer

Daily opportunities for prayer in the classroom include morning prayer, before and after lunch, and end of the day. Students also pause to pray a Hail Mary when they hear sirens, interceding for the first responders and those in need of help. Students spend time in Eucharistic Adoration on Thursdays.

Education in Virtue

St. John School uses Education in Virtue resources to help form our students as disciples, teaching them what it means to lead a happy life. Education in Virtue provides easy-to-use resources and materials developed by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, and based on St. Thomas Aquinas’ teachings on the virtues and gifts of the Holy Spirit. These resources provide a framework that helps all ages understand how to live a more virtuous life.

Ruah Woods

St. John School has implemented the Ruah Woods curriculum, which help students grow in their God-given identity. It provides teachers and parents with church approved tools for forming boys and girls in their God-given identity. This curriculum brings to life Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body in the context of our modern world. Through this curriculum, children gain an understanding of who God is, who they are as image-bearers of God, male or female, and how they fit into the world.
